Bone Density Scan
Osteoporosis is a chronic disease of bone metabolism, in which there is a gradual decrease in their density and quality, as a result of which they become more fragile and thin over time.
Our diagnostic laboratory IANO Agriniou, adopting the instructions of the Greek Endocrinology and Rheumatology Society, proceeded with the installation and operation of the new, state-of-the-art bone density measuring machine.

When should someone have a bone mineral density test?
According to the Greek Osteoporosis Foundation, an indication for the examination are:
All people aged 65 and over, women and men. People under the age of 50 who suffer from diseases accompanied by bone loss or receive treatment that causes loss of bone mass (eg cortisone). People aged 50 to 64 with:
- History of low-impact fracture (no particular trauma)
- History of hip fracture in parents
- History of vertebral fracture.
- Low body weight (less than 60 kg) or weight loss greater than 10% of their weight at age 25
- History of excessive alcohol consumption or smoking
